Recovery After Surgery

Orthopedic surgery, while often needed, can leave a patient in pain and prevent them from working or carrying out other necessary activities. Exercise plays an important role in regaining function and strength after undergoing an operation. Physical therapy after surgery will reduce the patient’s risk of re-injury as well as shorten the amount of time it takes to recover and get back into a regular and healthy lifestyle.

At Petersen Physical Therapy, we work together with patients and their physicians to achieve maximum level of healing in the shortest amount of time possible. The therapist will begin with a detailed history and evaluation of the problem and then design a unique treatment plan, which can include:

  • Ultrasound Treatment
  • Moist Heat or Ice
  • Therapeutic Exercises
  • Manual Stretches
  • Joint Mobilization Techniques
  • Electrical Stimulation
  • A number of other techniques
